# AI settings

> Ask your AI assistant to read or change the account-wide switches and limits that control how your AI agent calls leads.

**AI settings** are the account-wide switches and limits behind your AI agent: whether AI calling is on, your timezone, how often one person can be called, which call results opt a contact out, which zip codes you call, and similar options. Most of them are the same options you see on **AI › Configure** in the app.

Through the MCP your assistant can read all of them at once and change any of them in one request.

> **Example request to your AI assistant:** "Show me our current AI settings and flag anything that looks risky."
> "Limit each lead to 2 AI calls per day and 5 per week."
> "Set our timezone to America/Chicago."
> "Only call zip codes 30301, 30302 and 30303."

## Before you start

- [Connect your AI assistant](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/connect.md) to Bigly.
- You need permission to **read** AI settings to see them, and permission to **update** AI settings to change them. Account owners and admins have both by default. Managers and agents can't use the MCP.
- If you are setting up a new account, keep **AI calling off** until your prompt, voice, intros and follow-ups are ready. The [onboarding check](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/onboarding-guide.md) walks through that order.

## What the assistant reads

When you ask about your settings, the assistant reads every setting it is allowed to see, with its current value and the values it accepts. Passwords and tokens (for example your Ping/Post token) come back masked as `***`. The assistant can see that one is set, but not what it is.

## What the preview shows

Before anything is saved, the assistant shows you a preview:

- **What changes**: each setting that would change, with its current value and its new value. Settings you mention that already have that value are left out.
- **Errors**: if a value isn't allowed (a number out of range, a misspelled option, an invalid zip code), the preview says so and nothing can be saved until it's fixed.

You confirm in the chat, and only then is the change applied. See [How changes are made safely](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/how-changes-work.md).

## Settings explained

The technical name is in brackets. You only need it if the assistant asks which setting you mean.

| Setting | What it does | Accepted values |
|---|---|---|
| AI calling (`ai_enabled`) | The master switch for AI phone calls. It does **not** control [web calling](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/web-call.md). | On or off |
| Timezone (`timezone`) | The account timezone, shown as **Tenant Timezone** on the Configure tab. Working hours are read in this timezone, so set it first. | A timezone name, such as America/New_York |
| Max AI calls per day, week, month (`max_ai_call_per_day`, `_week`, `_month`) | How often one phone number can be called by the AI, across all your campaigns. | 0 or more |
| Max concurrency (`max_tenant_concurrency`) | Caps how many AI calls your account places at a time. | 1 or more |
| Opt-out tags (`opt_out_tags`) | Call results that move a contact to your do-not-call list. | Any of: Do not qualify, Not interested, User ended call |
| Hang-up limit (`hangup_block_limit`) | After this many hang-ups, the contact is moved to do-not-call. | 0 to 99 |
| Carrier error limit (`sip_block_threshold`) | After this many failed connections, the contact is moved to do-not-call. | 0 or more |
| Allowed zip codes (`allowed_zip_codes`) | Only contacts in these zip codes are called. An empty list means every zip code is allowed. | 3 to 10 letters or digits each, spaces and hyphens allowed |
| Block Landlines (`verify_number_before_call`) | Checks the line type before calling and skips landlines. | On or off |
| Same day meeting (`meeting_same_day`) | Lets the agent book meetings for the same day. | On or off |
| Meeting type (`ai_mode_of_meeting`) | Whether booked meetings are calls or in person. | Call or in-person |
| Start campaign on inbound text (`start_campaign_on_inbound_text`) | Starts the AI campaign when a lead texts you. | On or off |
| Call immediately after text response (`call_immediately_after_text_response`) | Calls a lead as soon as they reply to a text. | On or off |
| Uses Prompt Attributes (`uses_prompt_attributes`) | Lets the agent use contact attributes in its prompt. | On or off |
| AI phone number (`ai_phone_number`) | The phone number the AI uses. | Text |
| Inbound forward number (`inbound_forward_number`) | A phone number that incoming AI calls are connected to straight away, with no AI conversation, during your office hours. Leave it empty to keep the AI answering. If the number isn't a valid US number, or it's outside office hours, the AI answers instead. | Text |
| SMS link message (`ai_sms_link_message`) | The text message sent when the AI shares a link. | Text, up to 1,024 characters |
| SMS campaign path (`ai_sms_blast_path`) | What AI text campaigns aim for. | Qualifying questions or meeting scheduler |
| Ping/Post Service (`ping_post_service`, `ping_post_token`) | Real-time lead intake through Ping/Post. Needs its token. | On or off, plus a token |
| Call Forwarding Event, Forward Calls Instantly (`call_transfer_event`, `call_transfer_event_sync`) | How live transfers are handed to your team. | On or off |
| Calling provider and SIP options (`live_kit_version`, `sip_provider`, `sip_to_sip_transfer` and related) | Which telephony setup places your calls. These are usually set up with the Bigly team, so check with support before changing them. | Fixed options |

If you see a setting on the Configure tab that isn't in this table, ask the assistant. It can tell you whether that setting is available through the MCP.

## Limits and rules

- Only the settings the MCP exposes can be changed. Any other name is rejected.
- Numbers must be whole numbers inside the range shown above.
- Text values can be up to 1,024 characters.
- Every zip code in the list is checked. One invalid entry stops the whole change.
- Set your **timezone** before you turn on working hours.
- Turning on Ping/Post needs the Ping/Post token too.

## What you can't change here

- **Working hours and follow-up limits** live with your follow-ups. Use [Followup sequence](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/followup-sequences.md).
- **Voice, language model and speech recognition** are part of the [Voice prompt](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/voice-prompt.md).
- **Transfer phone numbers** used during a call are set in [Tools configuration](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/tools-configuration.md).
- **Pricing, internal IDs and account credentials** are never available through the MCP.

## Common questions

**I turned AI calling on, but my website widget still doesn't work.** AI calling only controls phone calls. Web calling has its own switch. See [Web calling](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/web-call.md).

**Why do some calls get skipped?** Your call caps, opt-out tags, zip code list and calling hours can all block a call. Ask the assistant to *diagnose blocked calls*, or see [Troubleshooting](https://docs.biglysales.com/mcp/troubleshooting.md).
