Putting your AI agent on your website

Turning on web calling, adding your website domains, choosing an intro, editing the consent text, copying the snippet onto a page, and previewing what the agent will say.

Web calling lets visitors to your website talk to your AI agent straight from their browser. There's no phone number and no dialing. You paste a short snippet into your site, and visitors click Start call to begin.

It's the same setup as AI › Web Calling in the app. Your assistant can read it, change it, give you the snippet, and issue a new snippet key if you need one.

Ask your AI assistant

Is our web calling set up correctly? Tell me anything that would stop it working. Allow the widget on example.com and app.example.com, then turn web calling on. Use the Website Visitors intro for web calls. Give me the snippet to paste on our site.

Before you start

  • Connect your AI assistant to Bigly.
  • You need permission to read web calling to see it, and permission to update it to make changes. Account owners and admins have both by default.
  • Web calling must be enabled for your account. If it isn't, the assistant can still show and preview your settings, but saving fails until support turns it on.

What the assistant reads

  • Your settings: on or off, allowed domains, intro and consent text.
  • The snippet to paste into your website, and the key inside it.
  • The consent text visitors will see, with your company name filled in.
  • Warnings about anything that would stop the widget working (see below).

Set it up

  1. Ask the assistant to add the domains where the widget will appear.
  2. Pick the intro you want web callers to hear.
  3. Review the preview: each setting with its current and new value, plus any warnings.
  4. Confirm in the chat.
  5. Ask for the snippet and paste it into your website's pages.
  6. Ask for a web call preview to read what the agent will say.

A Claude conversation previewing Bigly web calling settings: enabled changing from off to on, allowed domains changing from empty to example.com and app.example.com, the chosen intro, and no remaining warnings, with a request to confirm.

Settings explained

SettingOn screenAccepted values
Web calling on (enabled)Enable web callingOn or off
Allowed domains (allowed_domains)Allowed domainsUp to 100 website addresses. An empty list blocks every site.
Intro (intro_id)IntroOne of your intros, or none
Consent text (consent_text)Consent / policy textUp to 2,000 characters. {company} becomes your company name. Leave it empty to use Bigly's default consent text.

How domains are saved

The assistant cleans up each domain before saving, and the preview shows the cleaned version:

  • https://www.example.com/pricing becomes example.com. The https://, www., page path and port are removed.
  • www.example.com and example.com count as the same site.
  • Subdomains are separate: example.com doesn't cover app.example.com. Add each one you use.

Warnings to look for

The preview and the read both warn you when the widget won't work, even though the settings are valid:

  • Web calling isn't enabled for your account yet.
  • Web calling is on, but no domains are allowed, so every site is blocked.
  • This change empties your domain list while web calling is on, which breaks the widget on every site.
  • Domains are allowed, but web calling is off.
  • No intro is chosen. The default follow-up intro is used instead.
  • No snippet key exists yet. One is created the first time you save.

Get a new snippet key

If your snippet was copied somewhere it shouldn't be, ask the assistant to regenerate the web call token. It uses a separate confirmation from ordinary changes.

A new key breaks every snippet already on your sites

After you regenerate, the old snippet stops working everywhere it's pasted. Replace it on every page with the new snippet straight away.

Limits and rules

  • AI calling in AI settings doesn't control web calls. Web calling has its own switch.
  • Web calls use your outbound prompt, opening sentences, intros, prompt variables and voice. Inbound settings don't apply.
  • On a web-calling-only account, phone settings, SMS agents and call or text follow-ups do nothing.

What you can't do here

  • Place a web call. That creates a contact and a billable call, so the MCP can't do it. Use Test web call in the app. See Web calling in the app.
  • Edit your website. You paste the snippet yourself.
