Intros
Ask your AI assistant to create, edit or delete intros, the opening lines and qualifying questions your AI agent uses on calls.
What an intro is, listing intros, creating one with opening sentences and qualifying questions, adding an after-hours intro, reviewing the preview and confirming.
An intro is the part of a call script that changes from campaign to campaign. Each intro holds the opening sentences the agent says when someone answers, a block of text dropped into your voice prompt where it says {intro}, and the qualifying questions the agent asks. Intros can be different for outbound and inbound calls.
These are the intros on AI › Teach Your Bot › Intros in the app. Your assistant can list them, read one in full, create new ones, edit them and delete them.
List our intros. Change the first outbound sentence of the Solar intro to: Hi {name}, this is Sarah from {company_name}. Create an after-hours intro that tells inbound callers we're closed and will call back tomorrow. Add a question to the Solar intro asking for the caller's zip code.
Before you start
- Connect your AI assistant to Bigly.
- You need permission to read intros to see them, and permission to update intros to create, change or delete one. Account owners and admins have both by default.
- Your voice prompt must contain
{intro}. Without it, the intro's text is never used on a call.
What the assistant reads
- List: every intro with its number (ID), title, tag and inbound phone number, newest first.
- Read one: every field of a single intro, including its questions.
Refer to an intro by its title. The assistant looks up the number it needs.
Create or change an intro
- Describe the intro or the change. To edit, name the intro. Without a name, the assistant creates a new one.
- The assistant shows a preview. It says whether this will create a new intro or update an existing one, and lists each field with its current value and its new value. Fields you don't mention stay as they are.
- Confirm in the chat. The assistant saves the intro and shows it back to you.
A Claude conversation previewing an update to the Solar intro: the first outbound sentence before and after, and one new qualifying question, with the assistant asking for confirmation.
Delete an intro
Ask the assistant to delete an intro by title. It asks you to confirm, then deletes it. Check first that no campaign, first day followup, web calling setting or webhook still uses it.
Settings explained
| Field | On screen | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Title (title) | Title | The intro's name. Up to 255 characters. |
Outbound intro text (content_outbound) | Intro, Outbound tab | Text placed at {intro} in your prompt on outbound calls. |
Inbound intro text (content_inbound) | Intro, Inbound tab | Text placed at {intro} on inbound calls. |
First outbound sentence (first_outbound_sentence) | First Outbound Sentence | The first thing the agent says when a lead answers. |
Second outbound sentence (second_outbound_sentence) | Second Outbound Sentence | What the agent says next. |
First inbound sentence (first_inbound_sentence) | First Inbound Sentence | The first thing the agent says when a lead calls in. |
Inbound number (inbound_number) | Select Number | The phone number this intro answers. Up to 32 characters. |
Tag (tag) | Tag | Uses this intro for inbound callers whose most recent tag matches. Common tags: after office hours, transferred dropped, scheduled callback, SMS callback. Custom tags work too. |
Text response message (message) | The text message box | An optional text message the AI sends, for accounts that send links. |
Outbound and inbound questions (questions, questions_inbound) | Add Question | Qualifying questions. Each has the question text and, optionally, an Attribute Name, Answer Type and Expected output. |
Question options
- Answer Type must be one of: string, number, boolean or list.
- Expected output must be one of the options in the app: a yes or no answer, a number, a date, a zip code, any answer, or a state given as its two-letter abbreviation.
- Attribute Name is where the answer is saved on the contact, for example
total_workers. Up to 191 characters.
Questions are matched to {Q1}, {Q2} and so on in your prompt by position. Keep the number of {Q#} placeholders equal to the number of questions.
When the assistant changes the questions on an intro, it sends the complete new list. Questions left out of that list are removed. Ask it to show you the full list in the preview.
Every account needs an after-hours intro
Create one intro with the After Office Hours tag and inbound intro text filled in. Inbound calls outside your working hours use it. Without one, callers hear a generic closed message instead of yours.
What you can't change here
- Transfer Call Summary Prompt and No-Answer Voicemail Recording URL can only be edited in the app. See Intros in the app.
- Clone Intro is an app-only button. To copy an intro, ask the assistant to read it and create a new one with the same text.
- Which intro a campaign uses is set on the campaign. See Calls.
- Two intros can share an inbound number. Nothing stops this, but only one of them answers. Give each number one intro.
