Tools configuration
Learn which actions your AI agent can take during a call, such as transferring, ending the call or sending a text, and how they're set up.
The actions available to the AI during a call (transfer, end call, send a text, fire a webhook, credit score), what the descriptions and default sentences control, and how to ask the Bigly team or your MCP assistant to change them.
During a call, your AI agent can do more than talk. It can transfer the caller to your team, end the call, send a text, fire a webhook or look up a credit score. Each of these is a tool. Tools Configuration controls which tools the agent may use and how it uses them: what each tool is for, what the agent says while using it, and settings such as the default transfer number.
This tab is managed by the Bigly team. You won't see it in your AI menu. To change anything here, contact support, or use the MCP if you have permission (see below).
The tools
| Tool | What the agent does | What can be set |
|---|---|---|
| Transfer Call | Transfers the caller to a person. | Whether the tool is used, the Default Transfer Number, and the Default Transfer Sentence the agent says before transferring (for example, "I am going to transfer your call."). |
| End Call | Hangs up politely. | The Default Sentence it says before ending (for example, "Thank you for calling!"). |
| Send SmS | Sends the caller a text during the call. | The Default Sms Content. |
| Webhook Dispatcher | Fires one of your On Demand webhooks and uses the reply. | The Webhook ID and the Default Webhook Sentence it says while waiting. |
| Credit Score | Looks up the caller's credit score. | The description only. |
Every tool also has a Description. This text tells the AI when to use the tool, so small wording changes can change its behaviour. For example, a transfer description that says "only when the caller asks for a quote" makes the agent transfer less often than one that says "whenever the caller sounds interested".
The default sentences mean the agent never goes silent while a tool is working, and always has something to say if the tool can't give it an answer.

How to get a tool changed
Contact support and say which tool you want changed and how, for example "Transfer to 555-0100 instead" or "Only transfer callers who confirm they own their home". Your transfer number for normal calls is usually set in AI settings.
Changing tools through the MCP
If your account uses the Bigly MCP and your role has permission to update AI tool settings, you can view and change these tools from your AI assistant. You can change End Call, Webhook Dispatcher, Transfer Call, Send SmS and Credit Score. As with every MCP change, the assistant shows you a preview first and nothing changes until you confirm. See Tools configuration through the MCP.
If you don't have that permission, the assistant can't see these tools. Ask an admin on your account.
Common questions
The agent isn't transferring calls. The transfer tool may be switched off, or its description may be too narrow. Contact support, and include a test call or a recent call where you expected a transfer.
Can the agent book meetings during a call? Meeting booking uses your calendar and is set up separately from this list.
